We met with Jodie and Robert at the studio last month to discuss their big day which we will be covering in in October next year. These guys are total high school sweethearts, they have been together since they were like...16! LUV it! :) Cant wait for their big day!

Allan & Alecia {Engaged!}

I first met (...email met, that is...) Alecia last year when she was looking for a wedding photographer to cover her wedding to be held on her family farm at Boonah this October. Since then we have been emailing back and forth planning her big day, her engagement shoot and her soon-to-be TRASH sess {there are some super ideas for that btw!}. Anyway, over our multitudes of emails we became buddies, so when Alecia's engagement shoot finally came around I was SO excited to actually meet her! Well, these guys are absolute gems! Totally down to earth, amazingly in love and soooOOO funny! I think we all had sore cheeks by the end of the arvo from laughing too much :)

Hope you had as much fun as we did guys, cant wait for our next expedition! xo

I posted a while back about one of our new products, the movie poster, and promised there were more of our cool new products to be announced in the coming posts, so here's another! Drum roll please..... I introduce... Designer ART {!!!}

This is one of my personal fave new products as it's sooooo much fun! Because Brett is also a super funky graphic designer, we thought we would try mash his skills with hot pics, and "wallah" {!} we discovered Designer ART :) We luved the end result and think other peeps out there would too. :) So, if you're interested in turning your pics into sassy works of art, contact us~!

it all began with... {whales!}

Tonight, after packing up my desktop to take home and set up on my lap in bed (yes, I said Lap… When it’s totally flat out, I pack up my computer from work and set it up in bed so I can work right in front of the tv and keep an eye on Criminal Minds and Grey’s anatomy while still working until the wee hours of the morning. It works pretty well, only my big, fat, widescreen monitor gives me numb legs every now and then… I REALLY need a new laptop!) Anyway, being crazy busy got me to thinking about where it all began. I remember back when I just started taking bookings, and the total kick I would get out of noting it in my diary. I would proudly slap “BOOKED” across my whole ‘day to a page’ schedule for a 1 hour family portrait. I was SO excited!

so then that got me to thinking about how I ever came to pick up a camera. I’m not one of those photographers that got their first camera at age 2 and they’ve been trigger happy ever since. I wish I was, it sounds so… romantic (…?) I have always been into art and ran into the standard photography modules in high school, but my photography skills pretty much consisted of happy snaps. That was, until… whales! I LOVE whales! They are so big and slow and peaceful and strong and beautiful and musical. One of the most fave things Brett and I do is sit up at ‘our spot’ in the warm winter sun with our goofy binoculars glued to our eyes for hours and watch all the whale families pass by. We even have a little patch in the ocean we like to call ‘the dance floor’ where, when even the most mundane whale passes, it seems to rejoice in all it’s splendor and go nuts breaching and tummy sunning and fin flapping! One day we were up at ‘our spot’ and the most amazing thing happened! Two whales decided to pull a 360 and make a B-line into the mouth of the river and swim upstream! Brett and I jumped into the car with adrenalin pumping and raced down to the river. As people started running to the river from far and wide to behold this phenomenon, I grabbed my little compact camera to cover the story so I could share this experience with the world! Well, as you know, compact digital cameras have this totally FRUSTRATING habit of delaying the moment from when you press the shutter for about 3 seconds until it takes the photo. This made it particularly hard for my early armature photographer self, as the whales are were surprisingly quick at doing spectacular things. After the whales decided to leave the river and keep migrating, Brett came to check out the pics. As we scrolled through photo upon photo of bow wave we decided we needed an SLR. (sidenote: we did somehow manage to get like 3 reasonable photos to the daily news which ended up making front page of the newspaper! :)

Within weeks we purchased our first SLR, Penny, and the rest is history…

So there you have it! A looooooooong post about the beginning. :) It’s so incredible how everything just snowballed after that. I really can’t believe how blessed I am to be doing what I love with people I love everyday, Amen!

And because post need pics, here are a few of my desk buddies that keep me going throughout the day :)

Jay & Paula {wedding!}

Saturday was an absolute bleaker of a day weather wise! The gale force winds could nearly sweep you off your feet, the rain made everything so... wet, and the beaches were morphed into cliffs due to the huge surf. These days can be great. Great for shopping... great for snuggling up with a hot chocolate and a good movie... even great for going for drives and exploring new tracks. BUT these cyclonic days can be so uncooperative when it comes to weddings, especially beach weddings! Jay and Paula did such a great job "going with the flow" when plans had to be changed last minute to accommodate for what felt like a brewing hurricane. The beach ceremony was moved to the North Burleigh Surf Club and the 'beach' photos were moved to the AMAZING penthouse at Jupiters!

And, as always, the day was pulled off beautifully! Paula paid enormous attention to detail and everything looked fabulous! The colours, the flowers, the lace, the crystal and glass...mmm, so yummy!

Couldn't sleep the night before... {Chris & Tamara}

This is the shoot I mentioned last week that I was so excited about that I could hardly sleep the night before! There were a few reasons for such anticipation, firstly:

One of the most favorite things about my job is being able to make people happy with photos they can cherish for a lifetime. It sounds way cliche, but it's so true! So when Tamara contacted me and asked if we could do a *mock* wedding shoot for her as another photographer covered her actual wedding, and didn't do the best of jobs... I was soooOOOOO excited at the opportunity to make this couple happy with photos they could cherish!

And secondly, I was totally wrapped at the thought of having a MEGA 1/2 day bridal party shoot at one of my most *fave* (!) wedding venues, Cedar Creek Estate! Usually on the actual wedding day, time restrictions only allow about 2 hours max for the bridal party shoot, so this was a photographers dream! I also want to mention that the wedding co-coordinators, Kylie and Donna, from Cedar Creek Estate were so fabulous allowing us to wander through the grounds all afternoon. :) If you're looking at getting married at Mt. Tamborine, this is a super beautiful venue.

You know how sometimes you come across those people who are doing what they love and they are just so darn good at it that you think to yourself... "that's what they were *made* to do!". Well, that's what I got to thinking when we met Roger, Jayne and their 1yo daughter Isla last week. I am positive these guys were just *made* to be parents! You could tell they just loved being with her and hangin out, playin in the sand... talkin about Makka Pakka and the crew. It was actually kind of inspiring!

Ryan & Lisa's {Wedding!}

I don't know what it is, but we seem to get *the* nicest customers on the coast. Everyone is so fabulous and lovely, it really does blow me away sometimes, and makes me feel so blessed! And these guys were no exception, they were totally laid back beach babes! Lisa is probably one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Throughout the entire day I could hear her complimenting and thanking everyone just for being there. In the midst of the big day it's easy sometimes to stress and worry about the little things, but Lisa was just livin for the moment and appreciating everything she had worked so hard and planned for. And that is just so nice to see!

We met the girls at Ryan & Lisa's beautiful house at Koala Beach for the usual detail and bridal shots. We got there just in time for a few finishing touches of hair and makeup which was done by Amber Demas and looked amazing!

The ceremony was at Club Banora, then we headed back to Hastings Point for Bridal Party shots. It was just stunning there! The sun was perfect for some *sun kissed* shots and as it set the sky went a beautiful pink pastel colour, I was totally lovin it!

Jay & Paula {Engagement Session!}

Phew! We have had such an electric past few weeks and there is no sign of it slowing down in the near future, which is great (!) but it means that I have been a little slower than usual in posting sneak peeks. I really, really needed to get this sneak peek up asap so, *walla*!

These are photos from Paula & Jay's engagement session we did last week at Fingal. They are now less than a week away from their big day {sooooo exciting!!!!} so stay tuned for their wedding sneak peek in the near future! These guys decided to book in their engagagement session so they could use a pic from it at the reception for a signature frame. Then after their wedding they can swapsies the photo for a wedding pic (clever huh!). :)

In the coming days I hope to show you exactly what we've been up to. There are a few weddings, kiddos, engaged couples, commercial AND a shoot that i am *just* about to walk out the door to that im so(oooooooo!!!) excited about that I could harly sleep last night. I could tell you what it is, but i'm going to build the suspence until the sneak peek! :}

So, this morning I was on the phone to Jody (Jody and Karl) who just came back from their honey moon in Malaysia (so jealous!) and after talking about their *perfect* day and how amazing (!) it was, we got to talking about the blog and about posting comments... Apparently some of her friends had tried to post and it was like rocket science, crazy, confusing hard! So I got Brett onto it and it's so true! To post a comment it can get so confusing if you aren't a 'blogger' member... which is really annoying! Over the past few weeks I have been looking at changing to a new blog place anyway but now I want it even badder!

Then the funny side is, after Brett did his *test* post I realised that I had to approve his comment. So I went into Blogger and I found a few little surprises! There were other comments in there from way back awaiting my approval! So to those of you who tried to comment and the confusion is beyond you, thanks anyway :) , and to those of you who have commented and thought that I rudely rejected your thoughts, sorry, i'm just not too bright sometimes! :}

Well, I am right in the middle of like 11 edits at the moment, which after the weeknd will turn into 14, so I really, REALLY need to get back to it! I have a few sneak peeks to upload this arvo so until then, have an amazing day!

...lastly, beacuse posts are better with pics, here is a little treasure i dug up from a while ago. This is Poppy, our bunny who sadly decided to run away from home after he was all grown up :(

Chris & Julija - {Engagament !} Session

Last weekend we met Chris & Julija for their engagement session at Fingal. They received a gift voucher as an engagement present which is *such* a great idea! When the towels have holes in them and get chucked on the floor as bath mats, the dinner sets are all odd bits and miss matched, and that *beautiful* vase aunt mary gave you is totally outdated, your engagement photos will still be as dear to you as the day you had them taken. :)

Anyway, back to Chris & Julija... They were such a great couple, totally and naturally in love! Chris popped the question at Byron lighthouse (awwww....!) so we thought we could use this beach/lighthouse theme in their photos. We didn't quite make it to Byron but we did the next best thing and used our resident lighthouse at Fingal! Speaking of Fingal...(oh, dear Fingal... like my *ALL-time-favorite* location for beach shots) well, she took a bit of a knock during the last storm and it aint so pretty. The dunes I adored for dune shots are now cliffs, the trees I used for shade are horizontal in the sand and the rocks are now 3 meters deep in water... Incredible!

Little {Jarrah} ...

I have this little "light pool" I discovered about a week ago and ever since I've been *dying* to use it in a shoot! We stumbled across this *new patch* while on on afternoon drive and "WOW", it was like love at first sight! Both Brett and I were strategising the possibilities days later... dreaming of out first session there...

So when Kat, Jarrah's mum, said she was up for a country shoot, you can probably imagine how excited we were about putting our new patch to the test!

Well, the new patch lived up to expectations, she's a beauty! The light...the backdrop...the warm and cosy atmosphere... what more could you ask for...?

So, if you too would like to behold the splendour of our new patch with a country shoot, we are only a call or a click away!

Ian & Kristy's {cave} Wedding, Tuesday 5th May

I think in the last post I mentioned an early start for Karl and Jody's wedding, well that was nothing in comparison to Ian and Kristy's wedding! These guys got married at Mt Tambroine, in the morning. I *LOVED* how different their wedding was! It's so nice when you come across a bride who likes to mix it up a bit. :)

The ceremony was held in a cave (YES, I said CAVE!) at Cedar Creek Estate. I'd never been to a cave wedding before, but i totally fell for it as soon as I walked in! There was such a close, warm atmosphere in there and for photos it was so nice and dramatic. There were stalactites, stalagmites, little water pools... everything you expect to find in a cave I guess. ;)

We then had photos around the grounds of Cedar Creek estate, with gorgeous autumn tones everywhere! Then we headed to Thunderbird Park for some more snaps inside the reception room which was just like an old stone cabin with an open fireplace to boot.

Mt. Tamborine is definitely one of my fave spots at the moment. There are the most *A-MAZ-ING*! views , the cutest little shops around and wine tasting! ... the perfect place to celebrate your big day...

Karl & Jody's {Wedding}!!! Saturday 2nd May 2009

We had such a great time on Saturday at Karl & Jody's wedding! We had an early start, rocked up to the studio, packed the car and hit the road for Marburg. For those of you who are just like me and have practically no knowledge on towns and where the heck they are, it is kind of near Gatton... which is kind of near Toowoomba... if you get my drift... :)

So, Brett and I arrived about an hour early to spy out some great shot spots and BOY, did we have a pleasant surprise! We first went to "Woodlands of Marburg" where the girls were getting ready and where the ceremony and reception were to be held. Woodlands itself is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and vineyards. And there are the yummiest photo spots all around the place to add variation to shots, like old farm machinery, broken down buildings... etc...etc...pretty much a photo-graph-ers dream!

We then headed over to where Karl and the boys were getting ready (which was conveniently only a few paddocks away at Karl's aunties house). The boys did take their time in the bathroom, but they all scrubbed up very handsome when they finally decided emerge. I do wish though, that I did *accidentally* step on some ones sunnies...if you get my drift Struan... jk :)
After some great country shots of the boys, it was literally a hop-skip-and a *JUMP* back to the girls at Woodlands. Jody looked absolutely STUNNING! She choose a beautiful white gown with red embroidery detail to match the bridesmaids dresses. She also wore her great-great (-great?) grandmas broach which is about 150 years old! I think it nearly brought a tear to everyone’s eye as her proud mum pinned it on. :)

The heart-melting ceremony was conducted by a Karl's auntie, Lee Cropper, who also happens to be a celebrant. :) Lee is probably one of the nicest celebrants we have ever worked with and we would totally recommended her to all of our customers! After the usual group shot and family/friends pics we headed off for bridal party shots. We had a great time getting to know all the bridal party as we were snapping away. A few of you sooooooOOOO remind me of a few of our buddies, funny!

Hello blog world! Where have I been of late? Well... where to begin...?! This last month has gone so incredibly *fast* that I've totally missed the usual blog updates. We have been shooting - editing - shooting - editing - shooting - sleeping, then right back to editing! We have some super duper ideas on the horizon at the moment but we just need a breather to get a few things together before I can tell you what they are. So you'll just need to keep an eye on this space to see what they are! :P

Gareth and Priscilla's Wedding, Saturday 4th April 2009

What an awesome couple, these guys were just so great! Probably because they follow AFL, maybe not the right team, but at least they're on the right track. :) Gareth and Priscilla came all the way up from Melbourne to tie the knot!

The ceremony was held at the Chapel at the Gold Coast Art Centre. They had their gorgeous twin princesses Bella and Tallia as flower girls, just soooooo cute!

Their reception was at The Hideaway at Cabarita which was just perfect because we wanted beach photos but there was rain lingering... so because the hideaway literally backs onto the beach we had shelter right there if we needed it!

Chad & Alicia's Wedding, Friday 27th March 2009

I have never been to a wedding with an atmosphere quite like Chad and Alicia's yesterday! There was such a beautiful calm and relaxed feel the entire day! Both Alicia and Chad were totally chilled out, which was sooooooooOOO (!) great for photos! The ceremony was beautiful, performed by Christine Reid of "Always and Forever Ceremonies", and had everyone giggling during their personalised vows.

Everything went off without a hitch, we even had a spectacular cloud show rock up just as we headed up to the headland for photos!

We started the day getting photos of the guys at Brendan’s parents beautiful Burleigh house. The numerous rooms throughout the house made for some great shots of Brendan and the boys getting ready! We were having so much fun and before we knew it, it was time to make our way to Jemima and the girls.

After we arrived Jemima slipped into her gorgeous dress with an equally impressive veil, She and all the girls looked stunning!

After getting some great photos of the girls and some detail accessory shots we headed off to Club Banora where we met up with the girls again for some quick pics before the ‘’LuvDubs’’ arrived to pick them up to take them to the ceremony at Casuarina beach.

It was a lovely beach ceremony blessed with fantastic weather despite the nervous rainy morning. We got a great selection of family and friends photos and then the whole group on the beach. It was then time for the guests to disperse so we could continue on with the bridal party photos, which turned out stunning. The bridal party photo locations included beach, and headland/park all around the Casuarina and Cabarita area.

Time flew by so quick (well, at least for us photographers) as the light and locations were perfect, and it was now time to make our way back to Club Banora where the reception was being held. The room was very nice with beach theme table pieces and large windows all around over looking the golf course.

Andy & Laura's Wedding - 21st February 2009

Well, we started the day at Andy’s apartment to get some quick shots of Andy and his best man Jaimie. (Laura’s brother) Then off to the girls-
Despite the relentless rain Laura was remarkably calm on her big day and when she emerged from her room in her gorgeous dress she looked so stunning. We got some great shots of Laura, Amanda, (her mum) Kim (her father) & Kate (her sister in-law) the matron of honour at the apartment where the girls were getting ready which was actually Laura’s mum & dad’s holiday house. (very nice)

Despite the ever present clouds Laura and Andy were still able to have their beach ceremony out the front of the North Burleigh Surf Club and the décor looked lovely over-looking Burleigh Beach.
After the ceremony we got some great family pics on the beach front and the very stylish Hummer they had for the day provided some great creative shots of Laura and Andy!
The weather was still kind enough to us so after the family pics we moved down onto the beach for the bridal party photos, and the clouds while not raining provided fantastic light and drama for the photos.
The time went by so quickly and before we knew it we had to make our way to the reception which was held at North Burleigh Surf Club and they did a fantastic job with the décor, the room looked great! Which is always nice from a photographer’s point of view as we got some lovely detail shots of the room and table pieces.
Well, once the bridal party made their grand entrance it was time for us to head off and let them enjoy the rest of their evening!

The marriage of Josh & Steph – Saturday the 14th Feb

What a lovely couple! It’s so nice to see people so deeply in love, especially on a Valentine’s Day wedding! We ran into Geoff from ‘A Digital Production’ videography again, which was fun. It’s always nice bumping into familiar faces around the wedding scene. :)

Steph was an absolutely stunning bride and Josh made such a handsome groom! With the rain hanging around all morning, Arundel Hills Country Club did a fantastic job of relocating the outdoor ceremony inside to their foyer. After a beautiful ceremony with heart felt readings, we then set off around the immaculate grounds of the Country Club for photos. Thankfully the rain held off just when we needed it to, enabling some gorgeous photos around the golf course.

The reception, also held at Arundel Hills Country Club, was decked out just perfect! From the beautiful cake made by Steph’s mum (a very talented woman!) to the awesome canvas for guests to paint a work of art, it was just lovely! And what entertaining speeches, I’ve had “Hakuna Matata” in my head all day!

I thought that I may as well put some photos from a few of our previous weddings and shoots up here to pretty it up a bit... so the next few blogs will be from last year :)

The wedding of Kim & Sarina (my first EVER post! - YAY!!!)

So...my first ever post...how exciting! Since being inspired by so many amazing photographers out there with just as inspiring blogs, I decided "I gotta get me one of them!" - so here I am :)

Well, what better note to start my blog on than a wedding! This was the marriage of Kim & Sarina in the quaint little town of Alstonville. The weather threatened the outdoor beach shoot, but thankfully nothing too much eventuated.

The day began with a mixture of nerves and excitement at the girl's headquarters. The Heritage Inn. at Ballina provided such a great place for garden photos of Sarina & the girls. Not to mention a 'cute' laundry sign Sarina just had to have a photo with :)

We then made our way to The Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Alstonville. Soooo Cute, just fantastic for photos! I especially love the gorgeous feature wallpaper.

Then we set off to Boulders Beach and the Ballina lighthouse for bridal party photos. On the way back to the reception we pulled in for a quick 'traffic stopping shot' down the main street of Ballina - such fun!

When we arrived at the reception I totally fell in LOVE with the decor! The function room at the Ballina RSL was absolutely stunning, decorated with a chic victorian theme. I wish my house looked like that!

We had a great time with everything running smoothly, even if we were a little on edge with the clouds building above :)

You guys really do make such a cute husband and wife, thanks for letting us share in your special day! xo
